Meanwhile, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) team in Lagos state helped a homeless mother who gave birth to a baby girl on the road.
The RRS official moved the mother to a health centre after an officer got a distress call in Ikate-Eleguishi.
In a Facebook post on the civil force’s page, they said the mother was moved along with her four other children with the help they got from two sympathisers.
The mother and her kids are doing well at the Eti Osa Primary Health Centre in Ikate-Elegushi town.
Police PRO Dolapo Badmus addressed the issue and made it clear that no officer of the law has the right to randomly stop citizens and demand to rummage through their mobile devices.
She said that officers demanding to search people’s mobile devices can be likened to walking up to a random man and asking him to pull off his boxers for the sake of a search operation.
