The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Kofi Dzamesi, on the 23rd of July, 2020, commissioned two school projects in Huive and Torvie all in the Ketu North Constituency without extending an invitation to the MP for the area.

The projects, six units classroom blocks, were lobbied for by the sitting Member of Parliament for the area and Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. James Klutse Avedzi in the years 2018 and 2019.

According to Hon. Avedzi, he wrote to GETFund requesting for the construction of the classroom blocks and subsequently was given the approval letter which he then sent to the Ketu North Municipal Assembly for contracts to be awarded.

Avedzi further stated that work on projects was started even though there was no sod-cutting ceremony to officially signify the commencement of the projects.

However, the Chieftaincy Minister who has contested Hon. Avedzi for three consecutive times and lost, later came and did a sod-cutting ceremony at a time the projects were halfway through.

This he did without sending an invite to the one who lobbied for the projects.

The projects were finally completed and as usual, an event was organized to commission the projects.

However, those behind the commissioning of the projects including the Chieftaincy Minister ignore totally left out the MP whose efforts yielded the construction of the classroom blocks.

Hon. Avedzi who seemed unhappy with the conduct of the minister indicated that the minister has nothing to do with the projects.

He continued that the minister did that to score cheap political points in order to boost his chances in the upcoming 2020 general elections as he [Dzamesi] will once again contest him [Avedzi] for the Ketu North seat.

He admonished teachers and students of the schools that got the new projects to put them to effective use and to also take good care of them.
