54-year-old woman who's never been married gets engaged to friend of 10 years

Some women get to experience their happily ever after later in life following a series of heartbreaks, self-doubt and loss of faith in love.

Lisa Nichols is one of those women.

The 54-year-old woman announced on Facebook that after being unmarried all her life, she finally found the one she wanted to grow old with.

The best part was, her husband-to-be has been her friend for slightly over a decade but the two never tried to take their relationship to the next level.

According to the single mum, her fiancé Marcellus was always the guy who wiped her tears and gave her a shoulder to cry on whenever things went south.

The two grew together in their friendship and bonded over the years as they went through different seasons of life.

The motivational speaker said she always feared being tied to one man and pushed away the idea of settling down with one man.

But life is full of surprises.

“I am 54 and I have never been married. I have previously opted out because it did not feel right. I have picked wrong and had to mend my heart,” she said in a social media post.

Lisa’s happy announcement was followed by a sweet video of their engagement on the beach.

The 54-year-old was excited and blown away by how loving, thoughtful and caring her partner was and all she wanted was to be by his side for eternity.

As previously reported, a US man named Bob reunited with the love of his life 60 years after they broke up.

The two got married less than a month after their reunion and quickly moved in together.

Bob and Annette used to be high school sweethearts before they separated and married other people.

After the death of their spouses, fate broke them back together and they promised to live out the rest of their days together.
