A beleaguered mother, Fati Mustapha, is appealing for financial support for her 7-year-old son to undergo eye surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

According to Fati, the total amount needed for the medical procedure is GHc35,000 but said the youngster's father cannot afford to foot the bill.

She bemoaned that her husband lost his job, making her the sole breadwinner of the family.

Asked what was wrong with her son, Fati said, ''He cannot see clearly. We have taken him to Korle-Bu and they're saying it'd cost us GHc35,000 for the surgery. It's been four years since we discovered he cannot see but his father has lost his job ... I need financial support because the doctors said if he turns ten years old, he'd go blind completely.''

Fati said they first took the boy to the Maamobi Polyclinic but was later transferred to the Korlebu Teaching Hospital for advance medical treatment.

She said the doctors indicated that her son needs urgent surgery to restore his sight or risk going blind at age ten.

The struggling mother of six is appealing to the government, philanthropic organisations, and the public to support her before her son goes completely blind.
