The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expelled its former Central regional chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs.
Allotey Jacobs has been sacked upon recommendations by the party's Disciplinary Committee following a case of misconduct and anti-party behaviour brought against him.
In a statement on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia explained that the party's Disciplinary Committee found Allotey Jacobs guilty of the above-mentioned offences and recommended his immediate expulsion.
"The Functional Executive Committee acting in compliance of Article 48 (1) of the NDC Constitution has unanimously adopted the report and adopts fully the recommendation for your expulsion from the party.
"You are therefore by the decision of FEC expelled from the NDC and for that matter no more recognised as a member of the party and cannot carry yourself as such," the statement said.
Allotey Jacobs had been on suspension from the party for many months now.
His expulsion brings an end to his long service to the party which dates back to the days of J.J. Rawlings as military leader even before he formed the NDC in 1992.
In other NDC news on YEN.com.gh, a group of supporters of the party has demonstrated against former president John Mahama.
They were seen displaying placards with inscriptions such as "Mahama is destroying the NDC".
It is not currently known what led to the group taking this action against Mahama.
Following news making rounds in the media, it however seems the NDC has been facing issues since the 2020 Elections and its aftermath did not go favour the party.
