ECG Announces 4-Day Planned Power Outages Across Accra West Region

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned power outages across multiple communities in the Accra West Region, set to run from Monday, August 10 to Thursday, August 13, 2026.

The state-owned electricity distributor shared the notice through an official press statement published on its Facebook page on August 9, 2026.

ECG stated that the outages are necessary to carry out maintenance works intended to improve service delivery for residents in the affected areas.

The blackouts will run in phases across four days, with each affected zone losing power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm — a total of eight hours per day.

On Monday, August 10, 2026 residents in Nyamekye, Mab Hospital, Darkuman and their surrounding communities will be without power.

Tuesday, August 11, 2026 brings a wider impact, covering ACP Estate, Aboum, Tabora Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6, Alhaji Trotro Station, Tantra Hill, Lartebiokorshie Methodist, Yasako Press, Doblo, Bungalow, Hebron, Medie, Samsam, Korleman and nearby areas.

Wednesday, August 12, 2026 affects Akweteyman, Amasaman and their surrounding communities.

On Thursday, August 13, 2026 the final day of the schedule, outages will hit Lartebiokorshie Methodist, Yasako Press, Adeiso, Maame Dede, Annoff, Okrase, Mandela, SCC, Sunny Coast, Korkordzor, Kinshasha, Red Top, Ajasco and surrounding areas.

ECG urges residents to prepare

ECG confirmed that the maintenance exercise forms part of its broader commitment to upgrading electricity infrastructure and enhancing reliability for customers across the region.

The company expressed regret over the inconvenience the outages would cause affected residents and advised them to take note of the schedule in advance.

Residents in the listed communities are encouraged to make alternative arrangements during the stated hours to minimise disruption to daily activities and businesses.

ECG announces 6-hour maintenance dumsor in Tema

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) announced planned maintenance works in parts of Tema that will result in temporary power interruptions on August 9.

The power distributor issued notices on August 6, stating that the exercise is meant to improve its services.

Per the notice on Facebook, power cuts in Tema are scheduled to run for six hours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
