Montie FM now playing gospel music

Montie FM is back on air after it went off briefly following the jailing of its presenter, Salifu Maase, aka, ‘Mugabe’, and panellists Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn, by the Supreme Court for four months for contempt.

The trio had reportedly threatened to kill judges who ruled that the Electoral Commission should delete the names of 53,000 NHIS cards registrants from the voters' register.

Since the sentencing, the station which was noted for charged and fiery political analyses is now noted for soul-stirring gospel music.

The development has come as a surprise to many observers, with some suggesting that the Supreme Court ruling has demoralised staff of the station.

It is not immediately clear when normal programming will resume.
