Dr Kweku Oteng, founder and president of the Angel Group of Companies, has expressed grief over the death of Kumasi-based business mogul Stephen Boateng, popularly known as Kwabena Kesse or Kessben.

News of his passing, which emerged online on Thursday, August 20, 2026, was confirmed in an official statement by Kessben Group indicating he had died the previous night.

Speaking in a phone-in interview on Angel TV Ghana's morning programme Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ on Friday, August 21, 2026, Dr Oteng opened up about the circumstances surrounding Kessben's health in the period leading up to his passing.

The media and business personality revealed that the last time he saw Kessben in person was at the funeral of Kofi Job's mother-in-law. On that occasion, he said he could tell that something was not right with his colleague.

Kessben had suffered a stroke before his death

Dr Oteng disclosed that Kessben had been battling a stroke before he died. According to him, after learning of the illness, he made it a point to regularly check in on the Kumasi mogul. He described the situation as deeply painful, saying he had carried a sense of grief from the moment he learnt of Kessben's condition.

The Angel Group CEO spoke with evident emotion during the interview, recalling how hearing about the stroke left a lasting impact on him.
