WASSCE: Final Year Student Laments Over The Difficulty of Exams, Sends a Message to Father in Video

A final-year Senior High School (SHS) student has triggered reactions after she took to social media to rant about the ongoing 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In a video that has since gone viral and was sighted by YEN.com.gh, the final-year student, who is known on TikTok as @belindayakom2, was seen in an angry mood, expressing frustration after writing the English paper.

She complained about the difficult nature of the questions, especially about Paper 2, which was the essay and comprehension.

The young student then made a heartbreaking statement when she sent a message to her father, urging him not to be surprised if she does not excel in the English Language exam.

Details of the WASSCE 2025

The 2025 WASSCE started on August 5 with practical tests, while the written papers officially began on August 20 and will end on September 19.

A total of 461,640 candidates will write this year’s exam in 65 subjects.

Out of this number, 207,381 of the candidates are males and 254,259 are females, with examinations being conducted in about 701 centres nationwide.

Warning from GES to teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has meanwhile warned that supervisors or invigilators found to have engaged in examination malpractice will be dismissed.

The Acting Director-General of the Service, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, in an interview, admonished supervisors and invigilators to be wary of their actions and avoid activities that could question the credibility of the examinations.

Reactions to students' concerns over WASSCE

Ghanaians who thronged the comment section of the video offered varied opinions on the concerns raised by the young student about the exams.

Ricch is rich wrote:

"What you guys are doing will even provoke examiners to mark tightly."

Tooti Nyme stated:

"You people are funny. I have intentionally told my dad God said I should go for carpentry work after the English."

Richway_Parker added:

"Wabon aaaaa. You are saying these simple questions were hard? English was simpler, even more than Social Studies."

Son of Abu Trica added:

"Chale, you girls for shun dey post those things wai."

Maxco stated:

"Sorry, my people. It shall be well."

General Afrifa 1 stated;

"All because of social media ooo."

Mr Tristan added:

"The English was not difficult madam."

GES restores Parent-Teacher associations

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that the GES has reinstated Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs).
