A Ghanaian man has reportedly been detained by Canadian immigration authorities, awaiting his removal from the country.

This comes after it was realised that he did not have the legal status to continue remaining in Canada.

Popular Ghanaian-Canadian content creators Serwaa Broni and Maame Pokuwaa, who broke the news in a video, were seen looking very worried.

They explained that efforts to secure the man’s release had become difficult, particularly due to the challenge of obtaining legal representation because of the fees involved.

Maame Pokuwaa further explained that the man was apprehended and subsequently taken to a holding facility after being stopped by inland enforcement officers while driving.

During questioning, it was discovered that he had been placed on a removal list and was subsequently taken away.

According to Maame Pokuwaa, arrangements had already been made for his return, and he is set to be deported to Ghana next week, barring any last-minute changes.

The video concluded with her appealing to Ghanaians in Canada to reach out if they need assistance.

Ghanaian couple in Sweden deported

In a related development, YEN.com.gh reported that a Ghanaian couple in Sweden had been deported.

The man and his wife were found not to have met the legal requirements to work in the country and were instructed to return home.

Although the woman was lucky enough to get a job, she was later informed that her immigration status did not permit her to work in the country.
