Paul Pogba's unbeatable volley in the 71st minute was all Manchester United needed to beat Burnley at Turf Moor.
The victory ensured the Red Devils maintain their unbeaten run away from home in the Premier League this campaign.
Pogba wasted no time before smashing the ball into the back of the net after receiving a sumptuous delivery from Marcus Rashford from the right flank.
The Englishman after receiving the pass waited for the Frenchman to arrive at the vantage position before sending the ball to him while the World Cup winner fired home from the edge of the box.
Bruno Fernandes started the build-up from the right side of the midfield before sending the ball down the right flank for Rashford who made judicious use of the ball.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men have now opened a three points gap over defending champions Liverpool on the table with both teams prepared to faceoff this weekend.
According to Opta Joe, this is the first time the Old Trafford outfit has finished atop of the table since their last Premier League triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 2012-13 season.
United will, however, hope they can maintain this form till the end of the season while they also challenge for the FA Cup as well as the Champions League titles.
The Red Devils are also on a 12 match unbeaten run in the EPL with their last defeat coming against Arsenal on November 1, 2020.
