Ballon d'Or Voting Results Are 'Leaked' Ahead of Monday's Ceremony
- A ‘leaked’ Ballon d’Or top 10 has gone viral just hours before the 2025 winner is disclosed
- This year’s race is expected to be a straight battle between PSG's Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal
- But the leaked list delivered a major surprise, revealing that neither Dembele nor Yamal will take home the award
A leaked list claiming to show the top 10 finishers for the 2025 men’s Ballon d’Or has gone viral just a day before Monday’s ceremony in Paris.
In recent years, the identity of the winner has often surfaced online before the official announcement, unlike decades past when the results were kept secret until the big reveal.

These days, fans usually know the winner, and even the top three, well before the ceremony begins.
This year, multiple lists claiming to reveal the players and their vote counts have already been “leaked.”
The prestigious award will be handed out at the Théâtre du Châtelet, with the 2025 winner set to be crowned on the night.
For just the fourth time since 2007, neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo feature on the shortlist, ensuring a new name will claim the prize, per Squawka.
The new Ballon d’Or winner will officially be unveiled at Monday’s glamorous awards ceremony, scheduled to begin around 7pm Ghana time.
2025 Ballon d'Or top 10 list 'leaked'
However, on Saturday evening, a supposed leaked list claiming to reveal the top 10 finishers went viral across social media.
The unconfirmed but widely-shared list places Barcelona’s Raphinha at the top with 800 points, a tally higher than Lionel Messi’s winning totals in 2023 and 2019 (686) and Luka Modrić’s in 2018 (753), though still short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s 946 in 2017.
If the leak is accurate, PSG star Ousmane Dembele comes second with 710 points, followed by Lamine Yamal in third.
PSG duo Vitinha and Nuno Mendes reportedly sit fourth and fifth, with Pedri in sixth, Kylian Mbappé in seventh, and Mohamed Salah, Désiré Doué, and Lautaro Martínez rounding out the top 10.
The alleged top 10, according to the leaked list, in this year's vote are shared on X handle Barca spaces, with the caption: "This would be such a surprise."

How Raphinha fared last season
If the latest leaked is anything to go by, Barcelona winger Raphinha is on course to be crowned the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner.
Raphinha was one of four Barcelona players shortlisted, alongside Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Pedri, after the Catalan giants secured a domestic treble of La Liga, the Supercopa de España, and the Copa del Rey last season.
In Europe’s top five leagues during the 2024-25 campaign, only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (57), also a nominee, managed more goal involvements than Raphinha’s 56.

On the continental stage, the Brazilian equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic 2013-14 record of 21 direct goal contributions in a single Champions League season, per Goal.
At club level, only the legendary Lionel Messi has bettered his tally of 13 Champions League goals in one campaign for Barcelona, hitting 14 back in 2011-12.
Domestically, Raphinha also shone, scoring 18 La Liga goals and providing nine assists, taking his overall tally to 34 goals across all competitions. Within his own team, only Lewandowski (42) found the net more times.
Organisers inform Dembele he's won Ballon d'Or
In an earlier report, YEN.com.gh highlighted claims from a popular football account on X alleging that organisers had already informed Ousmane Dembélé he would be crowned the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner.
The speculation created a stir among fans worldwide, with many debating whether the leak was genuine or simply part of the usual pre-award buzz.
