Why Partey made Ghana's World Cup qualifier squad

Speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM, the Ghana Football Association’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, explained why the experienced midfielder was included despite the looming trial.

“We have supported all our players, and he is aware that there is a court case ahead of him, but he [Thomas Partey] has assured us that he will be able to join the team and is in the right frame of mind to play,” Asante Twum said.

He further revealed that Partey’s availability had been confirmed directly with coach Otto Addo before the squad was made public.

"Henry, Thomas will be available. 'I have spoken with him, and he will join us on time; he will travel with us to Chad, and he will also be available for Mali. Those were the words of the coach," he recounted on Sporty FM in a different interview.
