Seasoned highlife songstress, Awurama Badu has died after a short illness.

The 72-year-old musician was reported dead upon admission at the Effiduase Government Hospital in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region.

Awurama Badu is said to have been sick for quite a while though it remains unclear what had weighed her down.

Apart from ‘Medofo Adaada Me’, the musician is also known for popular songs such as ‘Komkom’, ‘Emelia’ and ‘Obaatan Refre Ne Mma’.

Just recently, the astute musician was recognised by a non-profit organization, Values for life (VFL), for her immense contribution to the growth of music in Ghana.

Her last public performance was at the 2013 edition of Citi FM‘s night of Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO), held at the National Theatre.
