I chose acting over politics – Kufuor’s son explains

The son of former President John Agyekum Kufour, has disclosed that he deliberately chose to be an actor instead of pursuing a career in politics.

According to Edward Kufuor, he is more passionate about acting instead of following his father’s footsteps to become a politician.

Speaking on Accra-based TV 3 with Mikki Osei Berko, the son of the former Ghanaian leader revealed that, apart from his acting career, he is also a businessman, farmer as well as a preacher.

“We do not quite understand the importance of investment in the Ghana film industry,” he stated.

Mr Edward Kufour in his conversation indicated that, when given the opportunity, he would love to contribute meaningfully to policy making that will help change the face of the film industry in Ghana.

“Well, policy making is one part of what I believe. We tend to just sit and complain a lot. If you have the capacity or the opportunity and sit back and complain then you are not part of the solution; you are part of the problem,” he said.

The actor maintained that, “So if the opportunity comes up, and it is not just being in a certain position, it is just doing whatever you can in your little area to make a change in the right direction”.

Mr Edward Kufuor who made his debut theatre performance in 1986, insisted that, industry players must attach some level of seriousness to the acting profession in Ghana.
