Five Ghanaian female gospel artistes whose marriages to pastors failed

Take a cursory look through the artistes in Ghana who identify as gospel musicians. It is easy to find out that most of these are women and that most often than not, are married to pastors of their church or some other Christian worship centre.

The reason for which a lot of Ghanaian female gospel singers love to marry pastors may be as a result of finding a life partner who shares their faith and foundation in church.

But whatever their reasons for marrying pastors, female gospel singers are also quite infamous for having disastrous marriages with pastors too.

YEN.com.gh compiles a list of five female musicians whose marriages to pastors broke up unceremoniously.

1. Gifty Osei

Singer Gifty Osei was married to Prophet Prince Elisha Osei, a Christian preacher. They had been together for about 10 years.

But last year, multiple sources confirmed that the two have split with one even alleging that the split occurred way back in 2014.

2. Obaapa Christy (Christiana Love)

Christiana Love or, as she is now known, Obaapa Christy, is one of the biggest selling Ghanaian gospel artises of the last 15 years.

She was also married to a pastor. Unfortunately, the marriage ended with accusations of infidelity and domestic violence traded among the two.

3. Agnes Opoku-Agyemang

In the early, 2000s, Agnes Opoku-Agyemang promised so much that most Ghanaians would have bet she was on to serious heights.

But things fell apart rather abruptly. Opoku-Agyemang would come to see her divorce to her pastor husband derail her musical career.

4. Esther Smith

Esther Smith really went through some difficult times in the hands of her pastor ex-husband. Interestingly, this became a major talking point in the country.

Smith's former husband accused her of adultery which she denied and also levelled accusations of neglect, abuse and adultery against him.

5. Diana Hopeson

The gospel musician who formerly went by the name Diana Akiwumi separated from her pastor husband some years ago over claims of abuse.

She is now married to Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Hopeson, another preacher.
