Headmistress and bursar allegedly blow GHC100,000 to be used for a kitchen
Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that the headmistress and bursar of Adjena Senior High School have misused an amount of GHC100,000 to be used to construct a kitchen.
According to the chairman of the Parents-Teachers-Association (PTA) of the school, Dr Nana Acheampong Kwakye, the money was spent in the course of one year.
“The kitchen where food is prepared for the children is an eyesore because aside from the dilapidated structure, it is also close to a public toilet and when it rains, disaster. As a medical doctor, I’m worried” the PTA Chairman lamented.

Dr. Kwakye further revealed that the bursar, when confronted, claimed that the money was used to pay teachers and refurbish the headmistress’ bungalow.
He added that it was surprising the school authorities decided to ignore a need as pressing as the state of the kitchen.
As an immediate measure, Dr Kwakye said, they have changed the signatories to the PTA bank account and also cut the sod for the construction of a new kitchen for the school.
Reacting to the allegations, the bursar of the school, Seth Asiedu, said they accounted for all the things they used the monies for.
He maintained that allegations of misappropriation of funds are borne out of malice.
Asiedu added that both the past and current PTA Chairmen have been briefed on the balance in the PTA accounts.
