The Ghana Police Service has expressed sadness over the fact that some persons looked on as a driver and his conductor physically assaulted a police officer.

According to Director-General of Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, ACP David Eklu, the people around could have helped in arresting the two (citizen's arrest) since they were doing something wrong.

Speaking to this in an interview on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, Director-General of Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, ACP David Eklu expressed surprise at how people looked on as a man uniform was being assaulted instead of dialing the police emergency number.

"I can’t understand how we are saddened that a lot of people were standing there doing nothing. I thought the public would have assisted but they didn’t and it saddens us," he bemoaned.

Meanwhile, the driver and his conductor will appear before the court today, March 18, 2019.

According to the policeman who is with the Odorkor police station, he was performing his duties when he was attacked by the civilians for confronting them when they violated the road regulation act.
