The money was aimed at helping persons within the Foundation, who require assistance with health, educational and other basic needs.

Mr. Vanderpuije said he and his constituents want to extend a hand to the former president in his bid to support vulnerable people.

On his part, Rawlings thanked the delegation for their kind gesture towards his Foundation.

He noted that the contribution will be channelled to assist a retired police officer, Chief Supt Ben Mensah.

The ex-policeman is in serious need of support to undergo surgery for a knee cap replacement.

Rawlings said Chief Supt Mensah is one of few officers who dedicated most of his working life to the good of the country and faced some precarious situations during the revolutionary period.
