Ghana touted as important business destination in Africa

Austria’s President, Alexander Van der Bellen, says Ghana is currently the most important destination in Africa for Austria and Austrian businesses.
According to him, Ghana has become a very attractive destination for businessmen and investors from Austria.
This, he said, has been made possible by effective management of the Ghanaian economy in the last two years.

President Van der Bellen made these remarks during a closed-door bilateral discussion with President Akufo-Addo.
The Ghana President is currently in Austria to participate in the R20 Austrian World Summit on Climate Change.
On his part, Nana Addo urged Austrian firms make it a point to invest in clean energy initiatives in Ghana.
The President said Ghana is fully prepared to tackle the climate change phenomenon.
He also called on the African Union (AU) and the G5 du Sahel to help in combating terrorism in the Sahel.
“The co-ordination of activities between the armies and the intelligence agencies of our countries is absolutely essential to a successful battle against terrorism,” President Akufo-Addo said.

Meanwhile, the Austrian Federal Army is involved in training co-operation with the Ghana Armed Forces on "Combat Dog Training."
The co-operation agreement demands that the Austrian Army supports dog handlers from the Ghana Armed Forces, and will set up a regional training centre in Ghana.
