Historic wedding and other photos of JA Kufour and Theresa inspire Ghanaians

After nearly 57 years of marriage, former president John Agyekum Kufour and his wife Theresa Mensah, remain a reference point for many who consider the couple’s marriage a perfect one.

Certainly not devoid of tensions, misunderstandings and the usual lovey-dovey couples' fights, the two have been together since they tied the knot at a white wedding ceremony in 1962.

A photo, which shows a young and handsome Kufour with his adorable newly wedded wife in arms has surfaced online and has reignited conversations about the two being a model couple for young people to emulate.

Former president Kufour and former first lady Theresa Kufour have had five children since their marriage in 1962.

Many Ghanaians have showered pleasant accolades on the former president and first lady since their wedding photo was shared in a Facebook group.

Another throwback photo of Theresa Kufour was shared online.

John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor became the 2nd president of the Fourth Republic of Ghana from January 7, 2001, to January 7, 2009.

He was also chairperson of the African Union from 2007 to 2008.

His wife, Theresa Mensah and former first lady of Ghana is retired nurse and midwife.
