Ghanaian youth now smoking dried feacal matter to get high - NACOB

- Young people in the country have resorted to now smoking dried fecal matter and drinking soaked sanitary pads to drink for vitality

- The youth reportedly mix both used and unused sanitary pads with water and boil for some minutes after which they sieve the concoction for drinking

Information reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that some young people in the country have resorted to now smoking dried fecal matter and drinking soak sanitary pads to drink for vitality.

In the Upper West Region, the youth reportedly mix both used and unused sanitary pads with water and boil for some minutes after which they sieve the concoction for drinking.

According to a report by Myjoyonline.com, those who smoke also mix dried human feces with Indian hemp popularly known as wee, roll it up in papers like cigarette sticks and smoke.

The human excreta, according to the abusers, improves the flavor of the illicit drug.

This revelation was made by the Upper West regional commander of Narcotics Control Board Ishak Bakuri when Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery visited the regional NACOB office as part of his three-day tour of the region.

He said there was no law in the country yet to control this new craze among the youth.

“ People are now smoking ‘poopoo'. They mix the dry shit with marijuana and smoke. They said it improves the flavor and there are others who smoke only the dry ‘poopoo’ they pick. They roll it and smoke.

Now the youth go to buy the pad. They boil the pad, sieve it and drink it, and others who are unable to buy new pads, they look around in the back yard, [and] when the ladies remove it and throw it away, they take it to go and boil it, sieve it and drink” Mr Bakuri said.

According to the NACOB commander, the office is yet to conduct a laboratory test to establish the chemical compositions of the latest discovery that the youth are hooked onto it.

“We are still trying to discover the chemical composition that is in the pad,” he said.

The Ministry of Health has announced that all persons coming in from China to Ghana would undergo enhanced health screening and surveillance to prevent the spread of the new Coronavirus.

Health Authorities in China have confirmed the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus in December 2019 after a series of reported cases of pneumonia of unknown cause.

A press release signed by the sector Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu and reported by Citi News, assured that Ghana has in-country capacity to diagnose the infection at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research.
