The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has added his voice to the many Ghanaians who are lashing out at the government for destroying properties running into millions of cedis.

The demolition of some property at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra, Sunday, February 16, 2020, was politically motivated according to the NDC man.

Speaking on Joy News' PM Express, Monday, February 17, Sammy Gyamfi described as barbaric the act to reduce factories to debris.

“... we condemn in no uncertain terms, this draconian demolition exercise which was carried out by the National Security and the authorities of Trade Fair. It is illegal, improper, unconscionable, unfair and barbaric.

It is politically-motivated. It is a clear case of injustice,” he added.

Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited demolished a number of structures belonging to different companies following a redevelopment project it intends to undertake.

The exercise which began around 10pm and ended after 12:00 am, saw two bulldozers and a team of armed police officers overseeing the destruction of structures.

In other news, President Akufo-Addo has promised the Chiefs and people of the Oti Region that his government would fix the deplorable roads in the region.

The President said he would replicate the feeder roads model to have motorable roads constructed in the region.

Akufo-Addo made the revelation at a ceremony on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Nkwanta in the Oti Region while on a 3-day tour of the Oti and Volta Regions.
