Medical staff members, whether they're nurses or doctors, are fighting the Covid-19 virus on the frontlines.

By 3 March, at least 3 300 health care workers were infected with the coronavirus and earlier today, the Daily Mail reported 2 600 medical staff members had contracted the Covid-19 virus in Italy.

While many countries have gone into lockdown and introduced several restrictions to help keep the citizens safe, health care workers remain at work and are often under-staffed and exposed to the deadly virus.

On Wednesday, a human civil rights activist, known only by his Twitter name @_SJPeace_, shared a heartbreaking video.

The clip shows medical workers holding up signs as they asked people to stay at home, wash their hands and do whatever it takes to stay safe.

"My aunt is a nurse that is in a ”increased risk group”. She is worried but she also fights and tries to stay positive. Please people, don’t underestimate this issue, respect healthcare workers, if you’re a believer then if you can... pray for them. And please stay at home."
