Picketing Junior Doctors: Gov't Transfers ¢542,000 to Pay Salaries

 

 

Out of the transfer made so far, junior doctors from the  37 Military Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Volta Regional Hospital are to benefit from the recent payment made.

The payment is reported to have been made few hours after before the deadline set by the affected doctors as Labour Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, in a different crucial meeting with doctors and other health workers over similar conditions of service revealed in a brief media confab government’s payment of the salaries.

So far, information is rife as to whether the accounts of the agitated doctors have been credited with the account and also whether or not these payments cover the full 11 month arrears.

The doctors in Monday July 27 picketed at the Accountant General’s Department threatening an indefinite strike should government fail to pay their 11 month outstanding salaries.
