The 2020 Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (Presec) stars of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), Isaac Gyamfi and Daniel Gakpetor have been admitted at the prestigious Ashesi University in Ghana.

In a post sighted by YEN.com.gh on the verified Facebook handle of Ashesi University, the school indicated that both students have been offered engineering programs.

Interestingly, it is reported that students from Presec, Legon have taken up a whopping seven per cent of all the freshmen who were enrolled in the school for the 2024 year group.

In a brief interview at the school after his admission, Daniel Gakpetor said his vision for the long term is to be able to champion a movement that will make technological advancements accessible to all and sundry.

For Isaac, his Ashesi education will prepare him for another lifelong goal: to inspire more young people in Ghana to become Engineers.

"My goal is to help correct this by pioneering new products and ideas that improve lives across the continent and helping deepen the impact and recognition of Engineers across Africa," he said.

In another powerful report by YEN.com.gh, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has given approval to some researchers from the School of Public Health at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to try out a COVID-19 treatment.

In a letter dated February 1, 2021, the FDA indicated that the researchers can commence clinical trials for the potential treatment which is a herbal mixture used in the past to combat malaria.
