Renowned movie franchise James Bond star Daniel Craig has spoken on the mental and physical challenge of playing one of the biggest roles in film history.

The actor appeared on the Apple TV documentary Being James Bond, where he disclosed the impact that taking up the huge role had on his personal life.

According to Daniel, who took up the 007 franchise role in 2005, he first went to the internet to check for the reactions of fans to him being named as the next secret service agent.

He said he found it tough because he read nearly everything, and it was filled with a lot of hate, but he knew that the film would be a hit.

Daniel said he was not ready for the emotional toll that a scene, where he came out of the sea donning tight pants, would bring - after it went viral.

The thespian said the fame that came with it affected his personal life, and he ended up locking himself in the house and drawing all the curtains to avoid publicity.

He said he was "physically and mentally under siege" because he did not like the newfound level of fame.

Daniel said X-Men actor Hugh Jackman was integral in helping him come to terms with his new celebrity status, adding he did not feel "cool enough" for the role.

The actor appeared in 007 franchises like Quantum of Solace, Skyfall (2012) and Spectre in 2015.

The latest James Bond film is set to be released on September 30, and it will be the last time that Daniel plays the famous role.

Daniel Craig won't leave his fortune to kids

The actor previously caused a stir after revealing that he will not leave his KSh 13 billion fortune to his children.

During an interview with Saga Magazine, he made it clear that his hefty fortune would not be passed down to his children once he passes on.

His wealth is currently sitting at over KSh 13 billion, of which his spawns will not be seeing a penny.

“My philosophy is to get rid of it or give it away before you go," Craig said.

The saucy actor has two daughters, one with Rachel Weisz and the other with Fiona Loudon.
