The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has spoken for the first time following her demise.

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, reports emerged that Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings had died at the age of 76. She was on admission at the Ridge Hospital in Accra for medical treatment. The cause of her death is still unknown.
The presidency released a press statement to announce the news of her demise after a meeting with her family members.
Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings' death came a few weeks before the fifth anniversary of her husband, Jerry John Rawlings' demise.

Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings' family speaks
In a press conference held at her residence in Accra, the head of the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings' family and Akomfuohene of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Oheneba Akwasi Abeyie, addressed the media.
Sitting beside him were the late former First Lady's four children, Zanetor, Kimathi, Amina, and Yaa Asantewaa.
The family head officially shared that the former Nana Konadu passed on at the hospital after feeling unwell at home in the morning.
He said:
"Earlier this morning, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings felt unwell and was subsequently admitted to the Ridge Hospital. Unfortunately, she passed on."
He also noted that the family had officially informed President John Dramani Mahama and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II about the former First Lady's demise.
Oheneba Akwasi Abeyie also appealed to the media and Ghanaians to respect their privacy during the period of mourning for the family.
He said:
"His Excellency the President was subsequently informed accordingly, and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, was also informed. His Excellency, the President, has called for an official statement to be made, confirming Nana Konadu's death."
"The family is obviously in mourning, and we beg your indulgence to give us some privacy. All further notices will be made by the government."

Spio Garbrah visits Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings' house
Following Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings' demise, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah visited her residence in Accra to mourn and commiserate with her family.

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, Mr Spio-Garbrah was seen arriving at his late former NDC colleague's house.
The former state minister and a close ally of the Rawlings family looked grief-stricken as two individuals held his hand and escorted him into the house.
The former NDC flagbearer hopeful and his associates gingerly walked to the entrance of the house, where they waited for the security official to open the gate for them to enter the premises and offer condolences to the grieving family.
Following his visit, Spio-Garbrah eulogised the late Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings and recounted her impact in Ghana during an interview with the media.
