George Floyd's murder: Rawlings applauds Americans' show of rage after black man's tragic death

Ghana’s former president Jerry John Rawlings has lauded the provoked responses of Americans following the devastating death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed by a white police officer.

In an earlier post on Twitter, May 28, 2020, the NDC founder said the death of the black man is a classic example of how morals have fallen in the United States.

George Floyd died on May 25, 2020, after Minneapolis police officers arrested the 46-year-old black man and was pinned beneath three police officers and died as a result.

Following the untimely demise of George Floyd, protesters have raged in cities in the US and across the world.

In the latest post on Twitter, former president Rawlings applauded the resounding manner Americans have reacted to the cruel killing of George Floyd.

''Americans have finally, thankfully reacted to this killing in a manner that has expressed outrage. This is long overdue,''his post read.

Former president Rawlings emphasised that ''no individual should rise into the seat of [government] brutalising his way and persistently lying and hurling vulgar insults at respectable women and perpetually lying even in office.''

Without bluntly mentioning Donald Trump, he labelled the US president as a narcissist, whose ''obsession with his image could provoke him to do almost anything such as ordering the killing of the Iranian General.''

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh reported that Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo joined discerning voices to express deep condolences to the family of George Floyd.

President Akufo-Addo expressed his condolences in a recent post on Facebook following the demise of George Floyd.

The president noted that black people across the world are in utter shock and in distraught by the killing of the unarmed black man by the white police officer in the United States of America.
