A man has been incarcerated for allegedly robbing a woman at gunpoint in front of her residence and then making advances towards her on Facebook.

Robber approaches woman while retrieving mail

The accused, 31-year-old Damien Boyce from Indiana, USA, is in custody with a cash bail set at $150,000 (GH¢1,732,526).

Boyce, who later told the woman she was too beautiful to be a target of a robbery, faces charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, as reported by Inside Edition.

On May 8, Boyce purportedly approached Amber Beraun while she was retrieving her mail and inquired if she lived in the house behind her.

Beraun, who had just finished her shift, confirmed her residence and offered assistance to the man, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case.

Allegedly, Boyce then brandished a handgun, threatening to rob her home.

Thief asks woman to add him as friend on Facebook

Beraun informed him that there were no valuable possessions inside, but she offered him approximately $100 in cash, which she had received as tips at work and kept in her car.

After taking the money, the man compelled Beraun to add him as a friend on Facebook, as relayed by the police.

Beraun later recounted to a local station, WRTV:

"I thought if maybe I added him on Facebook, he would leave, and he did."

During the subsequent month, Beraun claimed to have received messages from Boyce on Facebook.

According to the police affidavit, he wrote to her:

"Look, you know I'mma pay you back. It's a f***** up way to meet someone, but d*mn, you were too pretty to rob."

Suspect invites woman to chill with him

The affidavit further alleges that he invited her to "come chill" with him, based on transcripts obtained from Facebook.

In response, Beraun stated that she was already in a relationship and could not meet with him.

Initially, she did not report the incident but was encouraged to do so by her boyfriend.

Subsequently, in an unrelated case, Boyce was apprehended in June for allegedly shooting two individuals and assaulting another with a brick.

Following a standoff with SWAT police, Boyce surrendered after barricading himself in a building.

Kitale woman wrestles thief

Back at home, police were pursuing a suspect in a botched robbery attempt at a shop at Lions Area in Kitale.

In the Friday, May 26 incident, Samwel Kamau, the proprietor of Kanana Shop, and his wife, Caroline Nafula, were about to close their shop when an armed robber accosted them.

According to a police statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, the robber, armed with a G3 rifle, instructed the duo to hand over the day's sales to him.

Nafula surrendered, raised her hands and went out of the shop. On the other hand, Kamau remained in the shop while his hands were up too.

The robber then fired one round of ammunition between the legs of the lady. Immediately, she heroically wrestled the robber, and the firearm slipped from his hands and fell.
