Tabitha to mentor other environmentalists

On May 25, 2024, all roads led to Lelboinet Primary School in Chepalungu Sub-county for the grand Crowning of Tabitha as Bomet Environmental Conservation Ambassador by Karen Environmental Conservation.

"A memorable day it was! Tabitha Chumbaa, our 3rd county environmental ambassador, was crowned yesterday on a very colourful occasion," said young Karen, also a renowned conservationist.

"I promised not to leave the boy child behind in this very important climate fight journey. Also crowned Isaac as our boy child environmental ambassador. I donated potting bags and pledged KSh 5000 for Tabitha to establish her own tree nursery. I will support her to make the nursery bigger with time," added Karen.

Girl who inspired Kenyans on tree-planting day gets fully paid scholarship in private school

YEN.com.gh previously reported that Kenyans were moved by the photos of Tabitha Cherotich, who passionately planted trees alongside adults on May 10 in recognition of the people who had lost their lives due to floods.

The girl, who comes from Bomet County, lives with her grandmother and little brother because her mum went to hustle in another town.

Teacher Daniel Mutai told YEN.com.gh that Tabitha got a scholarship from Zasa Academy, a private school, and she still needs money to buy some personal items

"The remaining part is now boarding personal items. Thanks Zasa Academy. Congratulations Tabitha," Mutai told YEN.com.gh in an exclusive interview

Mr Mutai further explained that Tabitha will be transferred to Zasa Academy, where she will study up to form three.
