Chairman Buga reacts to Sofo Azorka incident

Speaking to the media after the incident, Chairman Buga explained that he was in the middle of granting an interview when he was attacked by Sofo Azorka and his men in the presence of the police.

"This unfortunate incident happened in the presence of the police, and I'm going to send a caution to Azorka. He's not above the law. Azoka made a very, very devastating comment. He said it clearly that today he would make sure I was killed here, me and [Alexander] Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader in Parliament; that he will make sure there would be another by-election at Winneba, no matter what, by the end of this election," he said.

He stated that he never uttered a word against the NDC's third Vice Chairman.

"When he approached me, I thought, we are political parties; we are all northerners. It was even a joke. When you heard me speaking Dagbani, I was saying that, ‘Azorka, you are my brother, so stop what you are doing’. I was thinking that maybe it was a joke. I'm saying that if I had known Azoka was serious, I would have shown Azorka another side of my nature."
"I would have let Azorka know that, in terms of violence, even though the NDC believes that nobody can beat them in unleashing violence, I would tell him that my name is Masamudu and I'm not afraid of Azorka. If Azorka is here thinking he has Azorka boys, I'm also here with my Buga boys," he added.

Suleiman further emphasised that leaders should know better and act responsibly, especially during tense situations like elections.

“The NDC chairman didn’t force at all, what he did is wrong and should be condemned. What’s all this on by-elections. Charley this things must stop. Political parties must begin to punish party folks who engage in such irresponsible actions.,” he said.
