The president of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara, held a reception for the players, coaches and officials of the Ivorian national team following its exploits at AFCON 2023.
Initially, the hosts' advancement to the final appeared improbable during the early phases of the competition.
However, the team staged a remarkable comeback, securing a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in the final on Sunday.
President gifts the team
In recognition of their outstanding achievement, every player in the championship-winning squad is set to receive a substantial monetary reward of $82,000, along with the keys to a luxurious villa valued at the same amount.
Additionally, Coach Emerse Fae will be honoured with a generous sum of $164,000 for his pivotal role in guiding the team to victory.
Order of merit
Within the nation's National Order of Merit, team officials were bestowed the title of Commander, while coaches and players were honoured as Chevaliers and officers, respectively.

In other related news, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) announced a 40% increase in the prize money for the winner of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Côte d'Ivoire 2023.
Patrice Motsepe, the president of CAF, expressed his enthusiasm for the positive strides made in enhancing the prize money for AFCON and other major competitions over the past two years.
“CAF has made significant progress over the past two years in increasing the Prize Money of the AFCON and all its other major competitions," Motsepe said in an announcement by CAF online
