Ghana Television is unlikely to broadcast the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash between Chad and Ghana on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno in N'Djamena, YEN.com.gh can exclusively report.

The Black Stars, with four FIFA World Cup participations in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022, are determined to strengthen their hold atop Group I, chasing a crucial win that could edge them closer to a place for the 2026 tournament.

Major setback leaves fans unable to watch Black Stars matches on local TV

Otto Addo’s men head into Matchdays seven and eight of the CAF qualifiers ready to boost their World Cup aspirations with wins against Chad and Mali, as the Ghanaian team seeks to atone for their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Chad, who were battered 5-0 by the Black Stars during Matchday six on March 21 of this year at the Accra Sports Stadium, are the weakest side of the group, having lost all six of their games, conceding 15 goals and scoring just once.

Against this backdrop, the minnows come into Thursday's encounter as underdogs against the star-studded Black Stars formation, who are likely to field high-profile players such as Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, and Thomas Partey of Villarreal.

However, Les Sao cannot be underestimated on home soil, particularly after Ghana coach Otto Addo expressed concerns about the pitch conditions.

Meanwhile, with less than an hour to kick off, Ghanaian fans remain unsure if the Chad vs. Ghana match will be broadcast on any local channel, including Ghana Television.

However, according to Foot Africa, viewers can catch the clash on New World Sport and Canal+ channels, with FIFA+ offering streaming access for both local and international audiences. The game kicks off at 13:00 GMT.

In the meantime, a senior production manager at GTV told YEN.com.gh that the network’s top executives are set to meet at 12:00 GMT to discuss the matter, so he could not confirm whether the station will broadcast the game.

"At this moment, we are unable to provide a definite answer on whether GTV will broadcast the Chad versus Ghana World Cup qualifier. The top management of the station is scheduled to hold a meeting at 12:00 GMT to review all aspects of the telecast, including logistics and programming considerations.
''Until that discussion takes place and a formal decision is made, it would be premature to confirm or deny coverage. We understand the excitement and anticipation of Ghanaian fans and assure them that once a decision is reached, it will be communicated promptly through our official channels. As for reports that GTV owes FIFA, who have blocked our coverage of the Chad game, it is news to me"
