Eight people lost their lives at the Astroworld music festival in Huston, Texas, on Friday, November 5, after a crowd surge that also saw dozens injured, according to CNN.

Reacting to the tragedy, Travis went on his Instagram Stories to share his thoughts on the incident, noting he was devasted.

The rapper sent his prayers to the deceased, saying his team was working on identifying the families to help with the grief.

He said his fans mean a lot to him, and his objective has always been to leave them with a positive experience.

Notice the unrest

He appeared to suggest he did not know what was going on, noting he would have stopped the show if he understood the severity of the incident.

He noted he is working closely with the authorities to gain information on what happened.

The Sicko Mode hitmaker added he was devastated and could have never imagined something of that magnitude would ever happen.

He sent his love to the fans and promised to update them with new information regarding the incident.

The ages of the victims who died range from 14 to 27, with one unconfirmed. At least 25 people were sent to a hospital.

Lives lost, several injured

As earlier reported by YEN.com.gh, the deceased at the Astroworld concert were squeezed with no means of escape at the sold-out event.

The concert that attracted 50,000 fans saw the crowd at the back surge forwards, compressing the people at the front.

Footage from the concert showed the rapper and music producer pause his performance on seeing an ambulance moving through the densely packed crowd.

Pena described the troubling scenes, saying people started becoming unconscious. It led to panic, and the security personnel were soon overwhelmed.

A field hospital near the venue treated over 300 people, with the eight passing away while admitted.

Hours earlier, one person was injured as people rushed through the concert’s VIP entrance.

Investigations are ongoing.
