Election 2020: Video of police training to combat ballot box snatchers pop up

- The Ghana Police Service is preparing ahead of the 2020 general elections

- A video from their training has popped up showing how they plan to deal with ballot box snatchers

- The simulation video which has been trending on social media stirred reactions from Ghanaians

Ghanaians are headed for the polls for another presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7, 2020.

While Ghana's elections have been generally peaceful over the years, there have been pockets of violence recorded across the country on election days.

Many of the incidents of electoral violence have occurred as a result of reported attempts by thugs trying to snatch ballot boxes at polling centres and causing chaos.

In a bid to curb those occurrences and deal with these ballot box snatch, the Ghana Police Service is taking personnel through intensive training.

In a video from the training sighted by YEN.com.gh, some groups of young men are seen in pairs on motorbikes storming makeshift polling booths.

After vandalising the polling booths and taking the ballot, a group o policemen troop in a formation and even shot (in simulation) one of the thugs to the ground.

The video has garnered a lot of reactions from social media users.

farcry99 urged Ghanaians to encourage the police:

"At least we have to encourage their efforts rather than putting them down...I’m very happy to see them exercise such efforts in preparation for that."

naakorle warned thugs not to come and joke with ballot boxes:

"You don’t come@and joke with ballot boxes ooo.... yaanum abuaa omuhupaaa."

_maabenaa_ urged Ghanaians to be proud of their country:

"Nothing is funny here... be proud of your country... don’t forget what went on in Nigeria recently."

__owusuaa.fashion said there was nothing wrong with the training:

"You Ghanaians ehhhh...What's wrong with the training? These people will talk and when they get to be in those same positions they don't do foko . At least should appreciate that they're doing something. You're saying that's irrelevant, did a police officer show you the video? Learn to push and accept your people."

nanayawasarejnr lamented that:

"Ballot box snatchers will change their style oh since u guys are displaying ur training to them."
