While alive, Rawlings and Baako were not the best of friends as the latter had been a staunch critic of the former president.
In an interview on Joy News on Thursday after the sad news went viral, Baako described Rawlings as a man with a very fine personality and was loved by all despite his strictness.
He stated that he never wished death on Rawlings despite their widely-known differences.
“No human being is to wish death even on his greatest enemy. All of us will move on and so I wish the family my sincerest condolences,” YEN.com.gh heard him say.
Speaking further, Baako refused to indulge in any analysis of Rawlings legacy as a Ghanaian leader saying it was not the right time for such an exercise.
Jerry John Rawlings was born June 22, 1947, and he celebrated his 73rd birthday recently with some lovely family photos.
Meanwhile, the office of J.J. Rawlings has released an official statement following the news of the former president's death.
