Nana Addo's administration is fighting those fighting corruption - Ghanaians claim

In the month of March, there was a lot of talk about former Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo and his forced retirement imposed by the government.

Most Ghanaians were of the view that the forced resignation of the former Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo was due to the fact that he was exposing the wrongs of the Akufo-Addo government.

Domelevo once stated that corruption cannot be fought alone but rather the one who wants to fight corruption would be fought against.

To seek the views of Ghanaians on Akuko-Addo's fight against corruption, the YENkasa team hit the streets of 37 to get opinions.

The first respondent the YEN team spoke to, said Akufo-Addo has clearly lost the fight against corruption because he was fighting those who were fighting the age-long canker.

He stated instances of him fighting corruption fighters like the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, and the former Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo.

The respondent added that the fight against corruption can only be won if President Akufo-Addo changes his ways and allow people put in power to crack the whip on corrupt individuals.

Another individual who shared his views said rules and regulations need to be followed to the latter. According to him, if the laws state that an individual should start his pension by the age of 60 then so be it.

He added that no one should fault the president for saying Domelevo should proceed on leave since he exceeded the 60-years retirement age.

A middle-aged woman believes that the government can do better in its fight against corruption.

The quite vocal woman hit the nail right on the head by saying both the previous Mahama and successive Akufo-Addo government have had their fair share of indulging in corruption.

According to her, the system is so corrupt to the extent that one has to pay her way through everything including getting a job.

Aside the views shared by those interviewed, the video gathered some reactions from Facebook users.

Justice Cudjoe said Akufo-Addo is fighting those fighting corruption.

In other news, the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has reportedly resigned from the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

He tendered in his resignation to the Speaker of Parliament indicating his decision to step down as a member of the Appointments Committee.
