The unidentified woman can be seen in the photos appearing to set the body of the soldier on fire after he had been beaten and rendered helpless by the mob.

She did not appear to have shown any restraint or remorse in carrying out the act nor did she appear to have exhibited any pity for the soldier's plight.

She was one of the people who allegedly claimed that Captain Mahama was an armed robber and brutally killed him at Denkyira-Boase, a mining community in the Central Region.

Her conduct as well as that of those who helped to kill the captain has been rigorously condemned by many Ghanaians.

Captain Mahama's harrowing death has sparked widespread calls for an end to the phenomenon of "instant justice", which has claimed hundreds, if not thousands of lives, across the country.

YEN.com.gh reported earlier that Captain Mahama was jogging on the dawn of Monday when some women from whom he had sought directions spotted him with a pistol and prompted the assembly man in the area that he was robber.

The assembly man, according to multiple media reports, quickly organised some youth in the town to beat Captain Mahama and burn him to death.

He was reportedly not wearing his army uniform and did not have his identity card with him, so his desperate pleas to the effect that he was not a thief went unheeded.
