Mzungu Woman Ditches Luxurious Life in Germany to Live with Kibra Man: "Love at First Sight"
- Leni and Vinn met in Nairobi during a dance event, and for the beautiful lady from rural Germany, it was love at first sight
- Vinn had reservations, especially when he had to take her where he lived, but Leni didn't mind living with him
- The two have blessings from their parents and can now live together, although Leni's parents preferred that they go and live in Germany
While growing up in Germany, Leni did not know that people have a different way of life until she met the love of her life, Vincent Otieno, aka Vinn.
Leni works in Korogocho
Leni travelled to Kenya to work as an intern in the sprawling Korogocho slum. Speaking on Afrimax English, the two shared that they met during a dance event where Vinn was performing.
"In Kibera, there are many challenges; if you go to school, you get chased. It was tough for me, but I had to adapt. Some of my friends were into substance abuse, and others died because of crime," shared Vinn.
Vinn wanted to stay as far away from crime as possible, so he started playing football when free. Later on, he joined dancing, which helped him ward off peer pressure,
Leni met Vinn on stage when he was dancing at an event. Although there were many girls, Vinn was attracted to Leni's vibe.
"I was attracted to her dancing and did not initially think of love. Later on, she asked to see my face; I told her I was working and asked her to come backstage," said Vinn.
Sparks fly between Leni and Vinn
"We decided to go home, but then I thought Nairobi is so big, and I may never see him again so I ran back and asked for his Instagram page," said Leni.
Later, Vinn removed the mask and gave his Instagram account, and they started texting. Leni finally agreed to visit Vinn.
"I told her I stayed in the slums and waited to see her say I don't do slum guys. I was like, this girl will hate me. It was crazy; taking a shower and many other things for her, they grew up having washrooms while I had to walk outside. One night, she needed to use the bathroom, and I gave her a bucket. I thought she would hate me," said Vinn.
Leni asks people to chase love
"I was a bit shocked because of the way people live, and there are so many kids who are not getting the right education or opportunities," said Leni.
The first meal of the day was chapati and beans. Confronting her life in Kenya was difficult, but she was brave for love.
Leni's parents support her decision, although they prefer she live in Germany with her husband.
"Chase love not material wealth, " said the social worker.
Vinn urged people not to be ashamed to say they are from a poor background.
