Pennsylvania - A pastor has survived a shooting after his attacker's gun jammed in the middle of pulling the trigger.

The malfunction in the firearm provided the congregants time to pounce on the young man, subduing him.

In a video that has gone viral, Pastor Glenn Germany is seen preaching before diving behind his pulpit as a man approaches, raises his arm and aims a gun at him.

According to BBC News, the police said the gunman is 26-year-old Bernard Polite, adding that they found another man, Derek Polite, shot dead at his home in North Braddock.

Polite, who is facing attempted murder charges, among others, was denied bail ahead of a preliminary hearing next week.

How did Pastor Glenn survive attack

The Jesus' Dwelling Place Church leader said he believes it is God who saved him during the attack, adding that he heard Polite's gun click.

"I'm so grateful. You know, he shot. You can hear the gun click," the pastor said.

The cleric explained that he saw Polite walk into the church and smile at him, thinking he was coming to speak to one of the congregants.

"But instead, he came right here, and that's where he just pulled out the gun. I'm looking right down the barrel of the gun out," added the preacher.

After the gun failed, church Deacon Clarence McCallister tackled Polite to the ground and helped restrain him as Germany took the weapon.

Germany revealed that Polite apologised and told him he heard voices in his head telling him to shoot the pastor.

Polite told police that "God told him to do it", hoping that he would be jailed to help clear his mind.

Ghana man in US Army convicted for smuggling guns into Tema habour

YEN.com.gh reported that a Ghanaian in the US army, Kojo Owusu Dartey, has been found guilty of smuggling guns to Ghana.

The smuggled guns were concealed within blue barrels of rice and household goods, according to court files.

The conviction follows a joint effort between US law enforcement agencies and Ghanaian authorities.
