Police Officer Killed After Shooting Makadara Magistrate During Court Session

Which Makadara magistrate was shot?

The police report indicates that Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti was shot by a police officer identified as Samson Kipruto inside the courtroom following an argument.

According to the police, court orderlies quickly neutralised the officer inside Court Room 9.

Preliminary investigations indicated the officer was the husband of the accused, who allegedly opened fire on the magistrate after his wife's bail was revoked for failing to attend court.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are at the scene to investigate the matter.

"Samson Kipchirchir Kipruto OCS Londiani, aged 55 years, whose wife, Jenniffer Wairimu, 48 years, was accused of obtaining money by false pretence amounting to KSh 2.9 million. He entered inside the court through the magistrate's door and fired shots towards the magistrate, injuring her on the chest and left hip," the police report reads.

What Adamson Bungei said

Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) officers cordoned off the crime scene at Makadara Law Courts, Nairobi, as emergency service providers rushed the magistrate to the hospital

The motive for the shooting was not immediately established.

Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei said the officer went behind the tent and shot the magistrate, who made a ruling on a case.

"Other officers present responded by shooting the officer, fatally injuring him," Bungei said.

Police officer from Ashanti Regional Headquarters shot dead near Ejisu

In an earlier publication, YEN.com.gh reported that a police officer with the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters had been shot and killed by some assailants.

The shooting incident occurred in the Bobiri Forest Reserve at Kubease near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

The police officer was found dead, wearing civilian clothing, with a gun and machete, lying by him.
