The Minister, on Sunday, September 7, 2025, conducted an impromptu inspection of the city's Central Business District (CBD) and was left disappointed over the sight of piled-up waste, reportedly left unattended by traders.
The moment of her frustration was shared online, after which she proceeded to draw the attention of Accra Mayor Michael Kpakpo to the matter.
Her outcry came after the government discontinued the contract between Zoomlion and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) under the sanitation module.

The garbage heap comprised plastic bags, food wrappers, and other debris spilt onto the roadside, emphasising the need for immediate intervention, she said:
"This is unacceptable. I'm calling on the mayor to ensure this rubbish is cleared within three hours."
She also expressed concern that, because of the uncontrolled waste management, there is a huge possibility that investors could back out of their commitments.
“Imagine an investor coming to see this; it doesn’t speak well of us,” she added.

"We often criticise the government for the pollution and mess in our country, yet we contribute to that very filth ourselves. The issue lies in our mindset."
