The 16-year-old recently clocked the fastest 200m time by an Australian since 1993.

The world under-20 silver medallist has been compared to Usain Bolt earlier this year after one of his performances went viral.

In one of the heats in the 200m, Gout ran a time of 20.29 seconds, making him the fourth-fastest Australian in the distance. He is now the fourth-fastest athlete in the 200m under the age of 18, per The Guardian.

Moreover, he is the quickest Australian in the 200m since Dean Capobianco, who clocked 20.18 seconds at the 1993 World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart, per Olympics.com.

His latest accomplishment came days after he turned professional.

“I’m super excited to have signed with Adidas,” Queenslander Gout told Citius Mag via News.com.au. “I’m not stopping here. I’ll work so hard to repay the faith they have shown me. I’ll stay hungry and chase down what’s next.”

Gout Gotu wins silver

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Gout Gout took silver at the 2024 World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Lima, Peru.

South Africa's Bayanda Walaza took gold in 20.52 seconds, while Gout finished in 20.60 seconds.

Gout Gout's compared to Bolt

YEN.com.gh also reported that Gout Gout responded to fans and analysts comparing him to Usain Bolt, the world record holder in the 100m and 200m.

The youngster was honoured to be compared to Bolt, adding that it would be a great accomplishment if he reached Bolt's level.
