Former Germany and Arsenal star, Lukas Podolski, reportedly owns a kebab shop worth a staggering £180 million.

The 39-year-old has several kebab shops across Germany and reportedly makes more money than he did as a footballer.

His career has taken him to England, Italy, Turkey, Japan, and Poland. He currently plays for Polish side, Górnik Zabrze. He has won the World Cup, the Bundesliga, and the FA Cup.

He retired from international football in 2016, two years after lifting the World Cup with Germany.

At Arsenal, he scored 21 goals in 82 appearances before joining Inter Milan on loan and then for Galatasaray in 2015. At the international level, he bagged 49 goals in 130 games.

Lukas Podolski's kebab empire

According to Football London, Podolski's kebab chain, Mangal Doner, is worth £180 million.

Before his first kebab shop began operations in 2018, he opened a dessert company called Ice Cream United in 2017. Furthermore, his interests include festivals, football tournaments, and his clothing store, Street Kicker.

The report adds that he opened his first kebab shop in Cologne, where his football career started, and now has 30 branches across Germany.

In 2018, DW asked him how he arrived at the idea of opening a kebab restaurant.

"Ideas just come — I don't even really have a business plan right now."

"You eat doner kebabs when you're young, when you're still playing and when you've finished playing – it's a perfect solution," he said via Bundesliga.
