Many clubs have had to sell several players to meet financial requirements and remain competitive across various competitions. Often, these sales result in substantial profits, which end up triggering reactions from fans and stakeholders alike.

A prime example of this was Brighton & Hove Albion’s sale of midfielder, Moises Caicedo, to Chelsea, for a fee in the region of €129 million in the summer of 2023.

Focusing on the financial gains, several Premier League clubs have generated significant revenue from player transfers in recent seasons.

In light of this, YEN.com.gh highlights the Premier League clubs with the highest transfer earnings in this period.

Chelsea

The West London club leads the list of clubs with the highest transfer sales in recent seasons.

According to data from Transfermarkt, Chelsea have raked in transfer income in excess of €1.3 billion. The club's biggest sale remains the transfer of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, for a fee in the region of €160mil.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola's side follows in second place on the list with an income in the region of €1.1 billion.

The Manchester club has completed a flurry of high-profile sales in recent seasons, including the transfers of Ferran Torres to Barcelona and Cole Palmer to Chelsea, both reported to be in excess of €50m.

The Premier League champions have also completed several transfer sales that went under the radar but translated into immense revenue for themselves.

Liverpool

The Merseyside outfit is also on the list of clubs with the highest earnings from transfer sales in recent seasons.

Arne Slot’s side have raked in an estimated €697m from player sales in recent years. Sadio Mané, among others, ranks as one of the most notable exits recorded by the club.

Everton

The blue club of Merseyside is also on the list, quite surprisingly.

Everton have completed sales reported to be over €650 million in recent history. The Premier League club recently finalised the sale of Amadou Onana and Ben Godfrey for fees totalling over €67m according to data courtesy of FotMob.

Leicester City

The 2015/16 Premier League winners also make it into the top five clubs with the highest transfer income in recent seasons.

Leicester raked in one of its biggest sums from the transfer of Harry Maguire to Manchester United in 2019.

The 2023/24 EFL Championship winners also recently completed the sale of midfielder, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, to Chelsea, following his stellar performances last season.

Chelsea plans massive clearout

In a recent report, YEN.com.gh detailed that as many as 12 players could be on their way out of Chelsea.

The list reportedly includes Romelu Lukaku, Trevor Chalobah, and several other players.
