According to the Minister, this move aims to curb the excessive spending linked to the senior national team, the Black Stars of Ghana.

The cuts include the removal of an estimated $10,000 winning bonus for the Black Stars’ management team, who will now only receive per diems.

Additionally, the Ministry has halved the players’ winning bonus from $10,000 to $5,000, while head coach Otto Addo’s bonus has been reduced from a proposed $20,000 to $10,000.

Furthermore, the Sports Ministry has slashed the GFA’s GH₵58,000 ($5,000) budget for fueling the Black Stars’ team bus before their 2026 World Cup qualifier with Chad.

The Minister also announced that the proposed winning bonuses of $10,000 and $8,000 for the team doctor, physiotherapist, video analyst, psychologist, as well as the kit officer, media officer, masseur, welfare officer, and dietician have been reduced to $4,000 each for these officials.
