YEN readers share their views on what they can buy for their lovers on Valentine’s Day with GHC50
A YEN.com.gh reader by name Evans Brown, has stated that he can use an amount of GHC 50 cedis to get two items – chewing gum and ‘alewa’ (locally made children toffee) for his girlfriend as a Valentine’s Day gift.

Evans Brown’s comment came as a response to a YEN.com.gh’s question to readers which asks that: “What gift can you buy with GHC50 cedis for your girlfriend/boyfriend in your area.”
This post which can be found on YEN’s official Facebook page has reached nearly 67,000 readers with over 2,000 reactions from them as at the time this report was being filed.
Evans Brown’s choice of gifts with a sum of GHC50 cedis indicates that he might be living in an ‘expensive’ area and checks by YEN reveals that he lives in Bahrain.

While others may see Evans’ choice of gift as funny or meager, perhaps, his girlfriend is also a lover of sweets and she would be pleased to receive chewing gum and alewa from him as a Valentine’s Day gift.

Other readers also stated what they could buy with the same amount.
Some mentioned slippers, teddy bears, ring, earrings, chocolates, “carton of energy drink”, mobile phones, Holy Bible and other items.
But what would a girlfriend use a whole carton of energy drink for on Valentine’s Day?
The proponent of this gift by name Osman Lameen Wataara responded: “Carton of rush energy drink just to give her plenty energy...in order to celebrate it very well.”
Another notable comment was made by a lady Ama Brago who wrote: “Nokia 1100 (45gh) remain 5 cedis then I buy 2 cedi chip and 3 cedi for credit.”

Ama’s comment portrays her as someone with a good sense of humour and also caring girlfriend as she is not only interested in buying the 45cedis mobile phone for the boyfriend but she also wants to add chip and airtime.
Through their many reactions, other YEN readers commended her for being a thoughtful girlfriend
