Former Ghana U-17 female footballer joins top club in Portugal

- Ghanaian female footballer Albert Ahialey signed for Sporting Braga

- She signed a year deal after passing her medical

- Alberta played at the U-17 World Cup which took place in Azerbaijan

Ghanaian female footballer Alberta Ahialey has signed for Portuguese giants Sporting Braga, YEN.com.gh can confirm.

Alberta completed the said move last Saturday after passing her medical. She has signed a year deal with the European side.

The 21 year-old forward stay would be extended should she perform well.

After completing her move, Alberta in an exclusive interview with YEN.com.gh expressed her delight in joining the Portuguese side.

“I’m happy that I have signed for Sporting Braga,” she said. “I’m ready to give my best for the team because Sporting Braga is a big club in Portugal.”

“I have signed a year deal with them and they will be ready to extend my contract if i perform well. It is like I’m on probation so I will put in a lot of effort so that they will extend my contract,” she added.

Alberta was part of Ghana U-17 female team that qualified for the 2012 U-17 World Cup in Azerbaijan after thrashing South Africa 5-1. In that game Alberta scored a hat-trick.

At the World Cup which Ghana won bronze, Alberta scored two goals after playing four games.

After the competition, Alberta’s career took a nose dive after suffering a career-threatening knee injury but she has fully recovered and ready get back to her old form.
