Two student Beauty pageant contestants drown in Cape Coast

- 2 student contestants of a beauty pageant have lost their lives in a drowning incident

- The sad incident happened at a beach in Cape Coast

- One of the bodies has been found with search still ongoing for the second body

Two contestants of the Face of USAG (University Students' Association of Ghana), are reported to have drowned yesterday, Thursday, August 16 in Cape Coast during a photo shoot session.

The two students, Lily Ampofowaa Asiedu and Sara Kwarteng were keenly contesting against other ladies for the chance to be crowned the 'Face of USAG'.

The two contestants drowned at a Cape Coast beach during a photo shoot session as part of pageantry procedure.

The incident is reported to have happened between 7 to 9 pm on Thursday.

One body has so far been found with the other still missing according to the reports.

Lily Ampofowaa Asiedu from the University of Ghana, Accra campus was found dead with Sara Kwarteng's body still missing.

Sara Kwarteng was a student at the University of Education, Mampong.

Reports indicate trip to the beach was against the advice of the Dean of students of the host school University of Cape Coast where a USAG Congress is being held.

The contest was scheduled to come off at 6PM on August 17.

Not too long ago, YEN.com.gh reported that some 2 students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology got drowned in Germany.
